Statement

The artist uses corrugated cardboard which is a type of papers but has enough strength of a tree; the artist has been working on object oriented works and working on creating compositions of Korean traditional patchworks, Jo-gak-bo. The artist majored in Asian painting, and the artist finds that corrugated cardboard has characteristics of Korean traditional paper, Hanji; corrugated cardboard which has soft feeling of pulp and effectiveness in expressions of colors, and that collage and object works are possible to work on are the attractive enough facts for the artist to work with it. The artist’s paintings are half-3d sculptures made with epoxy resin on papers.

Vertical and horizontal lined patchwork like artworks of the artist represent landscapes of Seoul which creates a puzzle-like composition after all. The artworks represent positively the differences of people who live with individual differences of shapes and forms of their own lives.

By doing so, the artist records everyday life through her half-3D, solidly crafted paintings and new transformations of papers which the artist tries to represent a town of her memories or ideal society of kindness.
